STEPHEN LAWRENCE WELLS
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Lawrence Wells, of Cornwall, Ontario, age 75. He died peacefully, after a short illness, on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus. Loving husband of Diane (Whittingham), Steve is also survived by his mother, Phyllis (Onions), his sisters, Nancy Walsh (Bruce) and Cindy Chipman, his niece Lisa, his brother-in-law Ken, numerous cousins and a wide circle of friends. His father, Gerald Wells, predeceased him.
A longtime air traffic controller, Steve’s early career involved postings in Montreal, Quebec City and Vancouver. He later worked in Cornwall as a manager at the Transport Canada Training Institute (today the Nav Canada Centre). He had been very active in local amateur theatre and was an avid RVer and motorcyclist. Steve will be remembered best for his wit, his zest for life and his love of travel.
There will be no visitation. A private burial will take place this Spring in Montreal. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
